David Gunn - Partner

David Gunn is head of the Firm’s Appellate Section. His practice consists entirely of appellate work in both state and federal courts where he has gained extensive experience handling a wide variety of substantive legal issues including oil and gas, personal injury, and commercial disputes. He is listed as appellate counsel in more than 60 reported appellate opinions and has authored several law review articles on procedural issues.

Mr. Gunn is board-certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He frequently appears before the Texas Supreme Court and has also appeared in each of the fourteen intermediate appellate courts in Texas. Mr. Gunn was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers in 2009.

Mr. Gunn received his J.D. from Baylor Law School in 1987. He later earned an LL.M. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1989. Mr. Gunn performed his undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin where he received a B.S. in chemical engineering in 1982. In 1984, he received an M.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Prior to entering private practice in 1990, Mr. Gunn worked at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston, first as a briefing attorney and then as a research attorney.
