Doug Pritchett is a member of the Firm’s Appellate Section. Beginning as a briefing attorney for the Supreme Court of Texas in 1998, his practice has focused principally on civil appellate issues at all levels of Texas and Federal Appellate Courts. He also has devoted a substantial amount of his practice to developing potential legal and factual issues in the trial courts by assisting in the preservation of error at all stages of trial and seeking summary disposition whenever appropriate.
Mr. Pritchett graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law. During his time in law school, he studied public international law at University College London and interned for Justice Raul A. Gonzalez of the Supreme Court of Texas. Following law school, Mr. Pritchett served as a briefing attorney for Justice Gonzalez until his retirement from the Supreme Court, and then served in the same position for Justice Alberto R. Gonzales.

Representative Cases
- Presented briefing and oral argument to the Supreme Court of Texas resulting in a dismissal for lack of appellate jurisdiction in an appeal challenging a summary judgment favorable to a client.
- Successfully defended, in briefing to the First Court of Appeals in Houston, a summary judgment favorable to a small business owner.
- Developed and briefed the eventual prevailing legal position for an amicus brief in the Supreme Court of Texas.
- Assisted in formulating the jury charge and obtaining a favorable verdict in a commercial breach of contract action involving a large construction project
