Troy Ford - Associate

Troy Ford became associated with Beck, Redden & Secrest L.L.P. in September, 2001. Prior to law school, Mr. Ford spent over seven years working for a major property and casualty insurance company.

As an associate with the firm, Mr. Ford has developed a diverse litigation trial practice that involves representing plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of matters including complex commercial disputes, product liability cases, personal injury cases, professional liability, class action disputes, environmental liabilities, insurance coverage disputes and maritime disputes. Throughout his career he has tried cases to verdict and has argued before the appellate courts of Texas. Mr. Ford handles cases throughout the United States and serves as national counsel for a Fortune 500 Company.

Representative Cases

  • Obtained a defense verdict as lead trial counsel on behalf of a Fortune 100 global electronics company in a products liability case. The case involved allegations that a window air conditioner purchased by a homeowner burned a house down within hours of its first operation. After a four day trial, the jury returned a defense verdict.
  • Argued before the First Court of Appeals which upheld the trial court's denial of a plaintiff's motion for a new trial in a case which arose when multiple plaintiffs sought to overturn an agreed judgment related to the settlement of their claim related to exposure to silica. Plaintiffs argued that their agreed judgment should be set aside as "void as against public policy" because their trial lawyers did not tell them that the settlement was allegedly an aggregate settlement.
  • Obtained a defense verdict on behalf of global electronics company in a products liability case. Plaintiffs alleged that the power supply of recently purchased television caused a house fire. After a four day jury trial, the jury returned a verdict against the plaintiff.
  • Represented driver of 18-wheeler involved in a fatality collision in which a young woman ran underneath a tractor trailer and was decapitated while her children watched from the back seat. Case settled after one week of trial on favorable grounds for the client.
  • Obtained summary judgment in Beaumont, Texas on behalf of electrical utility in personal injury action brought by employee of contractor. The case was argued before the Beaumont Court of Appeals which upheld the judgment.
  • Obtained summary judgment and dismissals of 729 plaintiffs on behalf of fortune 500 company in products liability case in Hidalgo County, Texas. Plaintiffs sought combined damages in excess of $400 million against several defendants.
  • Prosecuted claims on behalf of golf course construction company due to non-payment for construction of a golf course. The case was resolved on favorable terms for the client prior to trial.
