Summer Associate Program

Each year, the Firm invites second-year students from law schools across the country to spend part of their summer working at the Firm. The Firm is committed to providing its summer associates with a real litigation experience. Our summer associates participate actively in all types of litigation matters, and attend trials, depositions, mediations, and hearings handled by our attorneys. Rather than focusing solely on legal research, we believe it is beneficial to our summer associates, as well as to the firm, for law students to work directly with the attorneys so they may view first-hand the nature of our practice.

Our summer associates are assigned to a partner and an associate, both of whom act as mentors. Both mentors will assist the summer associate with work assignments and introductions to lawyers at the Firm and at social gatherings. In the past, summer associates have assisted in the preparation of pre-trial briefs, assisted in the preparation of and attended depositions, assisted in the preparation of and attended hearings, attended trials, attended clients meetings and strategy sessions, and assisted in other matters associated with the preparation of a case for trial.

In short, our summer associate program is designed to give law students an opportunity to experience life as an associate of the Firm and, conversely, to give the Firm an opportunity to see each law student as a potential associate.

The Firm’s practice is a fast-paced and exciting mix of commercial, energy, environmental, product liability, professional malpractice, and other litigation in a small-firm atmosphere. We believe our diverse litigation environment offers our summer associates the opportunity to define their interests and hone their skills in a variety of areas.

Our summer associates have repeatedly told us that they enjoyed the “hands-on” litigation experience as a part of the team, as well as our scheduled social activities which provided them a chance to get to know the people with whom they may work.

If you are a law student with an interest in permanent employment or the type of clerkship we offer, or if you would like further information, we encourage you to contact us at the Firm through Debra Shniderson, or through interviews at your law school.
