Matthew Whitley Wins Case Before the First District Court of Appeals
January 23, 2009
On December 4, 2008, the First District Court of Appeals issued a unanimous opinion affirming summary judgment in favor of our client, a transactional attorney. The plaintiffs, who were claiming several million dollars in damages, had accused our client of breaching fiduciary duties and aiding and abetting fraud in connection with a business deal. However, both the trial court and the court of appeals determined that the plaintiffs’ claims were invalid.
Beck Redden’s Matthew Whitley drafted the briefing and made the oral argument in both the trial court and the court of appeals. Beck Redden’s Andrea Paterson assisted with the trial court briefing.
